How do I figure out
PowerPoint 2007?!
Change slide proportions
PowerPoint’s default slide layout has the proportions of 8.5x11 paper.
But what if you need a wider view, say in the proportions of legal-size (8.5”x14”) paper?
Here’s how to set up a slide layout in legal proportions:
- In PowerPoint, click on Design.
- Click on Page Setup.
- In the drop-down menu under “Slides sized for:” select “On-screen show (16:10).”
[Because 14.5/8.5 = 1.7/1 which sorta = 1.6/1 or 16/10 … Nice of Microsquishy folks to make this so obvious.]
- Click OK.
To PRINT your legal-proportioned slides on legal-size paper:
- On the Print dialog box, click Properties.
- Under the Paper/Quality tab, select Legal (and load the printer with legal-size paper, of course).
- Under the Finishing tab, select Landscape.
If you expect to need the legal-sized slide format again, you might want to use the Save as Template option once you’ve saved the file as a presentation.
